Our Guest Criteria
Our passion for dogs extends naturally to caring for yours, and we want every guest to feel safe, happy, and relaxed during their stay. All accommodation is provided within our home — we do not use kennels. For this reason, we can only welcome dogs who are:
- Well-socialised and well-behaved in a home environment
- Neutered/spayed (unless they are still young pups)
- Fully up to date with vaccinations
We are unable to accommodate dogs with separation anxiety, as all guests sleep in our kitchen/family room rather than in bedrooms. Dogs who are distressed when left overnight can become unsettled, which is upsetting for them and disruptive for others.
For safety reasons, we also cannot accept dogs with any history of aggression — including resource guarding, food aggression, or reactivity towards dogs or people, whether on or off lead. A calm and well-mannered environment helps ensure a stress-free stay for everyone.
Walks & Behaviour
Our daily beach walks are a highlight for our guests. To keep these enjoyable and safe, we ask that dogs have good recall and walk politely on the lead. Uncontrolled off-lead behaviour or strong pulling on the lead is not suitable for our group walks.
Not Sure if We’re the Right Fit?
If you’re unsure whether your dog meets our criteria, please get in touch for a chat. We’ll be happy to advise honestly — and if your dog is better suited to kennels, we can recommend excellent facilities in East Lothian.
