Caring for dogs truly is a family affair here — and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Why keep all the cuddles to yourself when you can share every wag, snuggle and ridiculously enthusiastic greeting?
I’m Jenni, and alongside my husband Gordon and our daughter Georgia, I own and manage In The Dog House. We’ve been welcoming other people’s dogs into our home since 2016, providing a calm, loving and secure alternative to traditional kennels.
Our home is shared with our three much-loved dogs: Lily, our gentle Rottweiler; Poppy, our miniature Dachshund with a personality considerably bigger than she is; and Basil, another little black-and-tan Dachshund who arrived as a foster through Forever Hounds and simply never left. Laid-back, gentle and remarkably easy-going for a puppy, he fitted into the family so perfectly that letting him go was never really going to happen.
From time to time, there may also be a foster pup temporarily joining the gang while they wait for their own forever home.
We’re a family of dog lovers through and through. As a child, I couldn’t walk past a dog without stopping to say hello, and Georgia is exactly the same. I suspect it’s only a matter of time before she starts bringing home waifs and strays just as I once did!
That genuine love of dogs is at the heart of In The Dog House. Our guests aren’t tucked away in a separate part of the property — they share our home, our routines and our family life, just as our own dogs do.
