Home boarding - £36 per dog per day.
- Two dogs from the same home £60.
Day care - £30 per dog.
Unlike many home boarding establishments we do not offer a separate dog walking service . This means your dog will never be left behind while we are out with other dogs, nor will they be sitting in the back of a van. Instead, they'll enjoy our full attention in a safe, comfortable and supervised environment.
Our family prides itself on providing a 5-star service for our guests and making them as comfortable as you would expect us to.
We love dogs. It’s that simple and it’s why we do what we do. We can’t guarantee that we will happily hand over your babies at the end of their stay but we can guarantee that we will love them whilst they are here.

Before boarding, we ask that you provide us with a detailed plan of your dog’s daily routine and care so that the transition from their home to ours is as smooth and stress-free for them as possible.
We like to think it is as comprehensive as the instruction you would leave with a childminder. These are your fur babies after all.
All of our guests must meet the following criteria for the safety and comfort of all dogs, our family and guests:-
- No history of aggression towards other dogs or people
- No resource guarding
- No separation anxiety
- All mature dogs must be neutered/spayed
- Fully vaccinated (or titre tested) including kennel cough
- Treated for fleas, worms and ticks
- Well mannered with other dogs and people
- Good recall and walk nicely on the lead
When you leave your dog in someone else’s care, you want complete confidence that they’ll be treated as they are at home — with kindness, comfort, and genuine affection.
You want them to feel settled and secure.
You want them to be safe.
You want them to be loved.
That’s what we all want as devoted dog parents.
I’ve always viewed the service we provide in the same way I once searched for a trusted childminder — with the understanding that our dogs are family. Our four-legged companions deserve attentive, thoughtful care delivered to the very highest standard.
With 12 years of nursing experience and more than two decades in policing, I bring a calm, professional, and highly dependable approach to every aspect of care. As a certified Canine First Responder, your dog’s safety, wellbeing, and comfort are always my top priority.
Each guest is cared for in a structured, peaceful environment where attention to detail and consistency are never compromised.
Every dog in our care receives a level of attention and compassion that mirrors the comfort of home — elevated with the reassurance of experienced, professional supervision.
We take time to understand each dog’s individual personality and needs, offering tailored routines, gentle reassurance, and plenty of affection. From quiet rest time to extra cuddles or a familiar bedtime routine, every stay is designed to feel calm, comforting, and unrushed.
Our guests quickly become part of the family — many settling in so happily they’re reluctant to leave. Owners receive regular updates throughout their dog’s stay, providing complete peace of mind and confidence that their companion is not only safe, but truly content and well cared for.
For complete peace of mind, In The Dog House is fully licensed by East Lothian Council, confirming that we meet all required standards for professional dog boarding.
As part of the licensing process, East Lothian Council carries out comprehensive checks — including police checks — which are renewed annually at licence renewal. This ensures ongoing compliance, accountability, and the highest levels of care and safety.
We also hold specialist animal boarding insurance, providing an additional layer of protection and reassurance for our owners and their much-loved dogs.
All relevant licensing and insurance certificates are available to view upon request, and we actively encourage owners to see these documents in person. We also recommend asking the same of any boarding provider you consider — genuine, professional businesses will always be happy to show evidence of their compliance.
Together, this means you can leave your dog with us knowing they are cared for in a safe, compliant, and professionally regulated environment — where their wellbeing always comes first.
